Gary Marsh

My passion is exploring the emotion and interaction between humans beings. It is not my expectation that the viewers interpretation or reaction to my work will coincide with my intent. In fact it is the viewers response that further feeds my process.

Whether in sculpture or in my canvases I find both direct and indirect inspiration from the human figure. Each medium influences the other, not only from a form perspective but from a tactile perspective as well. I paint clay in a layered and subtractive manner rather than glazing and I use heavy viscosity paints on my canvases, applied with anything but a brush.
