Joan Hauck
I have always loved the colors and textures of fabric—from the heavy density of wool to the most gossamer of silks. It was inevitable that I would take a leave from my work in acrylic, mixed media, relief printing, collage, encaustic painting and monotypes, and bookmaking to discover how I can wrap, fasten, embellish--and even destroy--fabric. How long this love affair with fiber will last I can’t say, but for now I continue to discover new ways to manipulate it and let it speak. My studio is at the Novato Art Center, 781 Hamilton Parkway, Studio B.
